Banner 9 Registration Instructions

Prepare for Registration:

The Prepare for Registration page is a new link on the new Registration Landing Page.  Here students can see at a glance several important factors in regard to their registration status.  Students may visit this page to verify certain registration readiness factors are completed prior to their registration day.

Students will be able to see the following:

  • Official Classification
  • Earned Hours (institution/transfer)
  • Program information (primary, secondary, and declared minors)
  • Holds (with contact information and whether they prevent registration)
  • Registration Pin (Traditional U level students receive a pin after they are cleared by an advisor)
  • Override approvals already in the system (ex. A department approved prereq override)

Class Search:

On the Search Results page students can change the column size, the number of results per page and the sort order of columns.  Clicking on the course title hyperlink will result in a popup window that has additional course information (ie. Prerequisite, course restrictions, and course NOTES).  Clicking on the instructor’s name will allow you to email the professor.  The status column will display how many seats are available or if the class is full.

  • From the new Registration Landing Page, Click Browse Classes to view course sections for the term selected. Enter your Search Criteria (ex. subj, course #, keyword) or use the Advanced Search option to enter more detailed criteria (ex. Keyword, Instructor, Day/Time), then Click on Search.
  • Click Search again, then Click Clear Search to conduct additional searches

Create a Plan:

A new feature in the upgraded Registration pages in Inforbear allow students to create a registration plan that they can register from directly. This planning feature is separate from the Degree Works planning tool.  Students can use this feature to search for and save a list of sections they plan to register for.  Having the list of crns gathered will allow students to load their whole plan with one click on their registration morning instead of entering crns individually.

  • To create a plan, navigate to the Plan Ahead link on the Registration Landing Page.
  • Select the appropriate term and Click Continue
  • Students can create up to 3 plans for a term
  • Click Create a New Plan to begin
  • Use the Find Classes feature to conduct a search for the desire classes

It is important to note that students can create a plan at the course level, but to register from the plan, you will need to select specific sections.

The tool allows students to plan at the course level and the section level, but to register from this plan students will need to pick out the specific section.

  • Click on View Sections, review the options available and Click Add to the right of the desired section
  • Click Catalog Search Results, and then Click Search Again to navigate back and start a new search for the additional classes and continue to add sections as desired.
  • When all desired courses for the plan have been selected, Click SAVE PLAN in the bottom right-hand corner.
  • Student will then be prompted to Name Your Plan.  Students may choose the name.  It recommended they use 1 or A for their first plan and sequential for any additional plan, but not required.
  • Once the plan has been successfully saved, use the breadcrumb trail in the top left navigate back to the Select A Plan page.  Here students will see their saved plan and may create a new plan if desired repeating the same steps as creating the first plan.

Students may delete or edit their saved plans; they may also switch which plan is the preferred plan.

Please visit the Registrar's Office webpage for the instructions regarding registering from a plan.

The following steps should be taken to complete a Conditional Add/Drop:

  1. Click Submit again to clear any non-registered status messages

Registration PIN Access (for U Level Traditional Students):

All traditional Undergraduate level students will need to enter a registration pin to register starting in April 2021 for Fall 2021 registration.  Students are issued a registration pin automatically when they are cleared by an advisor using the existing “Clear for Registration” process.  There is no change to how advisors clear students.  This change impacts how students will access the new registration page.  Students will need to enter their unique registration pin each time they access the registration page.  This pin is different then their Infobear pin they receive when they are admitted.  It is unique and term specific for registration only.  It can be copied and pasted from the Prepare for Registration page or typed in directly.

There are three places a traditional U level student can find their registration pin:
On the NEW Prepare for registration page in two places*.

  1. In the Registration Status section
  2. In the Curriculum section
  3. For students who plan to use the existing registration pages, they can also find their pin on the Student Profile by clicking View Registration Pin.

* If a student is not yet cleared for registration. The message in the Registration status column says. “Please see your advisor to be cleared for registration” and the value listed in the Curriculum Column for Registration is “no pin”.

Graduate Level, Continuing Studies, Non-Degree and Summer students will not be assigned a registration pin, nor will they be prompted for a pin.

There is no line for pin in the registration status column.  There is also no line for a Pin value in the Curriculum section.
